The footprint butterflies are so cute and just what I needed to add a little splash of color to my newly updated laundry room.
I saw these somewhere, but I don’t remember exactly where it was. Probably on Pinterest but it wasn’t on my board so who knows.
So easy and the kids loved doing it. I used acrylic paint and it will easily wash off the feet as long as you do it right away. I picked my colors and painted their feet one at a time which produced tons of giggles.
Now here is where things went a little wrong and why I would suggest covering your floor with something that you don’t mind having a blue footprint on. Since I did one foot then cleaned it and then the other foot, I told L that he needed to put his clean foot on the ground and I would pick him up and set him on the tub side to wash off the painted foot. Easy enough, right? Not when you are 4. He put the painted foot down, got confused and then proceeded to hop from foot to foot all over the bathroom floor and rug. It really was comical to watch. It cleaned up off the floor okay but the rug has a little blue heel print on it.
After the foot was painted, I had them stand on a piece of paper. I push around their feet and toes a little bit to make sure that the whole foot gets imprinted. I had to paint the middle part of A’s foot in because her arch is so high it didn’t even touch the paper. Once both feet were done and the paint dry, I painted in a butterfly body and antennas (is it antennas or antenni?).
I added their names and the date, Mod Podged the paper on a painting canvas and ta-da….
And on the laundry room wall:
The kids loved doing this and wanted to make their own. I think I will take some paper outside and let them have at it with some finger paints. They can do their hand and feet and decorate them any way they want.
Overall, this was a really fun project that made us laugh and is really cute.

So cute, I pinned it!!! I know, the mess with paints always scares me

OMG! These are adorable. What a neat little project to do with the kids and these can be given away as gift to grandparents. I love it!
